United Way Day of Caring 2016

Winchester, VA - United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley is mobilizing record numbers of volunteers on Wednesday, September 14th for Day of Caring, presented by First Bank, Piccadilly Printing and BK Office Supply Powered by Millers, to help kickoff the United Way Campaign and to complete community service projects all over the Shenandoah Valley. For this one day each year, volunteers from area businesses, groups, and organizations come together to help others by doing fundamental projects for area non-profit agencies, community facilities, and complete a wide range of services to friends and neighbors throughout the Shenandoah Valley who are seeking assistance.

This year, Day of Caring will be made up of an estimated 850 volunteers, 103 of projects and 70 local teams. This year’s Day of Caring volunteer work hours equal a donated dollar amount of at least $156,876.00 back to our community.

Day of Caring will kickoff at Lord Fairfax Community College’s Corron Center on September 14th at 8:00am. The kickoff will feature speakers from our community, announcements of funds already raised by business Pacesetters, networking and celebrations for all volunteers including a DJ, Redskins Cheerleaders, selfie station, massages and a breakfast sponsored by Costco to fuel the hard working volunteers for their day of service.
