2023 ALICE® Awareness Week

This year, United Way of Northern Shenandoah Valley hosted its ALICE® Awareness Week from November 12-19. Numerous organizations, including volunteer and civic groups, contributed this week to help ensure a prosperous and equitable future for our community. Thank you, everyone!

 

Community Forum on ALICE® Challenges & Solutions

Business and nonprofit leaders spoke at a public forum to bring a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by ALICE® households and how their organizations support them. The forum was held on November 15, 2023, in the Eagles Conference Room of the Our Health campus and open to the public. The Community Forum was a platform for sharing ideas, experiences, and resources with attendees from the Winchester CCAP, Valley Assistance Network, Valley Health, and many others.

Navy Federal Credit Union Hosts "Money Matters" Workshops

Thursday evening on November 16, 2023, Navy Federal employees met at the Eagles Conference room to offer workshops on credit and budgeting to the public. Led by Thomas Racca, these certified financial counselors worked with Valley Assistance Network to offer guidance to individuals and families on financial matters. Free pizza, drinks, and bags with resources were available to attendees.

Dining for Dollars on November 17, 2023

The week ended with a night at TGI Fridays and their Dining for Dollars special. As they have for many other events, TGI Fridays has hosted this evening and donated 20% of proceeds from dine-in and carry-out orders to the UWNSV.
